1.This advance of teacher quality should be taken preference over for the professionalization of supervisory position enhancing the learning of students by helping teachers with professional growth and the research through the in-service training. For this purpose the professionalization of supervisory position is desperately required.
2.The problem of this study are as follows;
(1)Investigate into the teacher's quality required in the supervisory position.
(2)Extract the quality of deficiency in the supervisory position.
(3)Research and map out in-service training program for the professionalization of supervisory position.
3.This research enforced both theoretical study and questionnaire survey simultaneously to solve the problem of study.
4.This research classified the quality of supervisory position into humanistic quality, Professional quality and managerial quality, and after extracting the important contents of quality, this research identified the degree of the on-the-job perception of the required quality through the investigation of questionnaires and extract the quality deficiency in the existing supervisory position.
5.The investigation through questionnaires is used for 210(all members of present supervisory position), 380 elementary, middle and high school teachers and 170 principals who had experienced supervisory position under the jurisdiction of the Seoul Board Education.
6.This study researched the in-service training of supervisory position on the basis of the results of theoretical study and the questionnaire survey.
7.This arrived to a conclusion as follows.
(1)The in-service training of supervisory position should be aimed at attempting the enhancement of quality and the development of teacher’s ability.
(2)By investigating into the quality required in supervisory position and extracting the quality deficiency in the present supervisory position. It should reflect to be supplemented through the in-service tanning
(3)Though the contents of in-service training program are selected ranging from the field of specialization, the field of managerial ability and the field of general subject, they should be organized into the subjects of training by the core and elective courses, And also this in-service training program should be planned and implemented based on the theory and practice of adult learning and education.
(4)According to the developmental stage of supervisory position the trainees of supervisory position are allowed to participated in the professional training supervised by training agencies in the period of beginning (one year), the training of cooperative group centering the departmental job in the period of growth(Form two to three years) the training of their own self in accordance with individual needs in the mature period(after four years) and the remaining other courses fit for their own levels.
(5)It is recommended that the trainees of the supervisory position, though the period which carry into effect the in-service training is based on individual needs, are encouraged to participated in the course of professional training over once in the whole period of five years unit, in the course of cooperative group training over once a month and in the course of the supervisory position training over once a week.
(6)In case that the trainees of supervisory position are lack in their quality at the results of evaluating the course of the n-service training and have long been engaged for over five years, the course of the in-service training is operated on a repeated circulation system at the appropriate level of individual needs.
8.This study made suggests several following points:
(1)On the basis of the results of this study, the systematization of the in-service training program for supervisory position is required.
(2)The administrative and financial support is required for the innovative expansion of the opportunity of in-service training for supervisory position.
(3)The motivation system of training should be intensified and the climate of training activities should be formed in order to enhance the participatory consciousness of the in-service training program.
(4)Since this study generally researched the in-service training program for supervisory position, the detailed study will be continued b the developmental stages and the curriculum of in-service training in the future.
