선도사서 『규원사화』 해제 -위작설에 대한 쟁점을 중심으로- = Bibliographical Commentaries on the Gyuwon Sahwa(揆園史話) -On Controversial Issues of its Authenticity-

The Gyuwon Sahwa(揆園史話) is a text, which is considered to have been written in 1675, overwhelmed by the Confucianism, by Buk-aeja (北 崖子), including historical stories strongly reflecting anti-sinocentrism and national consciousness of the Dangun period from the 1st Dangun to the 47th Dangun. Today, the authenticity of Gyuwon Sahwa is sharply disputed by some Korean scholars. Skeptical scholars allegedly assert that some concepts of Gyuwon Sahwa were not anachronistic and were influenced by the Christianity. With respect to the questionings raised by the skeptical scholars, the purpose of this paper is to analytically inquire based on facts that some concepts of Gyuwon Sahwa have been long used in the Orient and are believed to be indigenous to Korean people`s thought. Actually, Gyuwon Sahwa was authenticated as the real issue written in the mid Chosun dynasty by bibliographical and epigraphical experts in 1972. This allows us to admit that historical records of Dangun dynasty existed at least in the mid Chosun dynasty although existence of the Dangun dynasty itself may not be completely confirmed by the existence of the authentic issue of Gyuwon Sahwa. In spite of high disputes in the existence of the Dangun dynasty, we have to admit that Gyuwon Sahwa offered grounds and legitimacy for Dangun movement that has intensely developed since the end of the Chosun dynasty, and ensured a solid criterion of and a drive for research into Korea`s Sun Do(仙道). Further, it is significantly meaningful for the confirmed existence of the authentic issue of Gyuwon Sahwa to contribute to put an end of constant disputes among many scholars in the fields of Dangun studies and Korea`s Sun Do(仙道).
