청소년의 정신건강 선별도구로서의 빗속의 사람 그림 활용 = The Use of Draw-A-Person-in-the-Rain (DARP) as an Screening Tool of the Mental Health of Adolescents

This study explored the potential of the DAPR as a tool to measure the mental health of adolescents by investigating the relationship between the mental health of middle and high school students and their drawings responses on the Draw-a-Person-in-the-Rain (DAPR) test. The study participants were 397 students attending middle and high schools. The instruments for the study included the DAPR and Mental Health Inventory (MHI). DAPR had four indexes: stress, alternative means, color, and story contents. Data were analyzed using A cross tabulation and discriminant analysis. The results were as follows. First, significant differences were found between the two groups and the items of the stress index including the rain shapes, contact of people with rain, and contact of people with a puddle. Significant differences were found between the two groups and the items of the coping resource index including the existence of an umbrella, existence of a rain coat, existence of indirect protection, and facial expressions. Significant differences were also found between the two groups and the story contents and the items of the color index including color stability and the number of colors. Second, The discriminant power of these variables was 73.1%. The discriminant power was 73.1% in the health group and 73.0% in the high risk group. Story contents was the highest-affecting variable with a score of .693, followed by the rain shapes, facial expressions, and existence of a raincoat. These study findings lend support to the use of DAPR to identify students with emotional problems at schools and to the use of its results for information if a therapeutic intervention is necessary.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 중․고등학생을 대상으로 빗속의 사람그림(Draw-a-Person-in-the-Rain: DAPR)검사가 청소년들의 정신건강 상태를 선별하는 도구로 활용할 수 있는 지를 밝히고자 하였다. 연구대상은 경북 대구지역의 중․고등학생 397명을 층화군집표집하여, DAPR검사와 정신건강검사(Mental Health Inventory)를 실시하였다. DAPR의 채점항목에는 스트레스 지표, 대처자원 지표, 색상관련지표, 이야기내용 지표를 포함시켰다. 자료분석을 위하여 정신건강유형을 두 집단(정신건강집단, 정신건강 고위험집단)으로 분류하고 교차분석과 판별분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정신건강유형에 따라 스트레스 지표의 비모양, 비와 사람의 접촉, 웅덩이와 사람접촉 변인에서, 대처자원지표의 우산유무, 우의유무, 간접보호물유무, 얼굴표정, 신체완성도 변인에서, 색상지표의 채색의 안정성, 색상수, 그리고 이야기내용 변인에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 이 변수의 판별력은 73.2%로 나타났으며, 정신건강집단은 72.0%, 정신건강 고위험집단은 74.0%를 예측하고 있다. DAPR 변인 중 ‘그림에 대한 이야기’ 변인이 .693으로 가장 영향력이 높았으며, 다음으로 비모양, 얼굴표정, 우의 유무 순으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과를 통하여 빗속의 사람그림검사는 학교장면에서 정서적으로 취약한 학생을 선별할 수 있는 유용한 자료로 활용될 수 있음이 확인되었다.
