한국어 쓰기 교육에서의 온라인 기반 글쓰기 피드백 운영의 효과 = The Effects of Implementing Online-Based Writing Feedback in Korean Writing Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to analyze the effects of online-based writing feedback in Korean writing classes for international students. It examines how online feedback can overcome communication barriers between instructors and students in a non-face-to-face learning environment and empir ically explores its impact on students' motivation, self-efficacy, and writing skill improvement.
In particular, the study specifically compares the effectiveness and limitations of online feedback with traditional face-to-face feedback.
The research involved 10 international students enrolled in the Korean writing course at C University, conducted over a 15-week period. The participants came from various nationalities and academic fields, and most had intermediate or higher levels of Korean proficiency. The researc h method involved tracking the changes students experienced in the writing process, with the feedback stages structured as follows: [topic selection - outline writing - first draft - feedback - revision - final submission]. Feedback was provided through a combination of real-time video conferencing and written feedback, with the instructor offering personalized feedback on grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. In particular, real-time interaction allowed the instructor to accurately understand the students’ writing intentions and provide feedback accordingly.
The results showed significant improvements between the initial drafts and the revised version s. Grammar and sentence structure errors were significantly reduced, with noticeable decreases in syntactic and semantic errors. The overall quality of both personal statements and critical essays improved, and students were able to actively revise and develop their writing based on the feedback. Additionally, real-time video feedback supplemented the limitations of written feedback, giving students confidence and a sense of accomplishment. In other words, online-base d feedback proved to be highly effective even in non-face-to-face situations, as it provided feedback tailored to individual students' needs without time and space constraints.
Thus, this study suggests that online feedback systems can play an important role in Korean writing education in non-face-to-face learning environments, and also presents the possibility of maximizing the educational effectiveness by combining online feedback with face-to-face classes.
